Blue Chalk Media was hired by Pearson Education to create a series of marketing videos about the importance of education to future success and how, for many, education is not something to take for granted.
To highlight Pearson’s dedication to providing inspirational educational experiences to students from all walks of life, it was important to find a story with a strong character who was also a Pearson customer.
To find this character, Blue Chalk reached out to its connections at local school boards and public schools and were put in touch with Ricardo Lujan Valerio, an inspiring young immigration activist who had been protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
Blue Chalk spent several days filming with Ricardo and his family, learning all about their harrowing journey to the US, Ricardo’s dreams for the future and the importance of education in helping him achieve these dreams.
“Ricardo’s Story,” was released to the public on Friday, September 2nd, 2017, to highlight Pearson’s support for DACA following the Trump administration’s decision to rescind the program. The film has since been shared on Facebook and Twitter and Upworthy where it has reached thousands of viewers. It has also inspired many viewers to reach to their representatives and call on them to protect former DACA recipients.
